The USQ Ironbarks have stormed back into URLQ title contention courtesy of a 50-10 hammering of a demoralised UQ Gatton Bulls on Wednesday night.
Despite the onset of inclement weather, the rejuvenated Ironbarks ran in nine tries to two to rocket into second position on the URLQ ladder after six rounds.
It was a happy night for Queensland Universities and Ironbarks backrower Eugene Seddon, with the creative number 11 scoring a try and booting seven goals in a standout performance.
In Wednesday's other match, the UQ Hounds continued their dominance of the URLQ competition with a gutsy, come-from-behind, 16-10 victory over the Griffith Dragons at Griffith's Nathan campus.
A late try to Reuben Butler sealed the victory for the Hounds, with the Dragons seemingly close to an upset after trailing by just two points for the majority of the second half.
After enjoying the luxury of their second bye of the season, the QUT Trouts will be chasing their first victory of the 2008 season next Wednesday night, when they play host to the Griffith Dragons at their Carseldine campus.
